Circa (from Latin, meaning "around, about"), usually abbreviated c., ca or ca. (also circ. or cca.), means "approximately" in several European languages including English, usually in reference to a date. Circa is widely used in genealogy and historical writing when the dates of events are not accurately known. When used in date ranges, circa is applied before each approximate date, while dates without circa immediately preceding them are generally assumed to be known with certainty. For example:
- 1732–1799 or 1732–99: both years are known precisely.
- c. 1732 – 1799: only the end year is known accurately; the start year is approximate.
- 1732 – c. 1799: only the start year is known accurately; the end year is approximate.
- c. 1732 – c. 1799: both years are approximate.
If you want to remove your account on C-date, a website for casual dating, you can easily do that in the Settings of your account.
I’ll show you below how I managed to close my profile permanently using a desktop computer:
1 Go to www.c-date.com
and log in by entering your email address and password on their site.
2 Select My profile in the main navigation
3 Choose Settings in the sub-menu that appears
4 Scroll down to the Delete profile link
Warning: It’s hidden very well because the color of the link is nearly the same color as the background color.
5 Confirm that you want to cancel your membership
A message will appear:
Your profile has been deleted
=> your account is closed now. Mission accomplished!
