How to remove OkCupid account
Use the information below to remove your account (or deactivate it, if you’re not certain yet).About data retention, a message from an anonymous visitor of our site may tell something more: I believe they keep the pictures on purpose, since – they keep your password (if you try to log in to a removed account, the error message will be different if you indicate the proper password or if you indicate an erroneous one). Most likely, they just keep all account info somewhere to perform some (..) datamining on it… It’s no wonder they call themselves “the Google of online dating”.

You can either delete or disable (so you can reactivate it in the future) your account on OkCupid. Deleting and disabling follows the same process:
- Visit the delete/disable page on OkCupid
- Enter your password to confirm
- Click on either the “Delete Account” or “Disable Account” button.
First of all, you don’t need permission from anyone to delete your own personal OkCupid account. This is something that can be done anytime and you don’t even need to have a valid reason for it, but sometimes these online dating sites make it so difficult to delete or make it so that you need to request permission from the site to delete your account. Luckily OkCupid has a simple solution that allows you to delete your account yourself without much effort. Here’s a step-by-step guide.
Log in to your OkCupid account. You should be automatically directed to your homepage. If not, click on the OkCupid logo to go to the homepage. Now drag your mouse over your profile name on the most right-upper hand corner and a drop-down list should appear.
Click on “Settings”. You should now be in your “Settings” page for your OkCupid account.
Click on the “My Account” tab if you are not already there.
On the bottom right-hand corner, you should see a “Delete account...”
button. Click the button to move on. You should now be the “Delete Your
Account” page.
Make sure you read the ‘What you need to know’ section
before deleting your account and after deleting your account -- some
things can’t be undone.
- This is PERMANENT! Your messages, essays, questions, etc. will be removed, and no matter how many emails you send, OkCupid can’t restore them.
- This will not free up your username! That is locked forever, to avoid ambiguity.
- Your email address, however, will be freed in case you want to sign up again.
- OkCupid will stop sending emails, but you may get one or two stray emails the week of.
- Check any one of the boxes shown to explain why you are leaving OkCupid.com and make any comments/suggestions in the provided box (this is not required though). Then enter your password and click on the ‘Delete my account’ button and you're DONE! You have just confirmed the deletion of your OkCupid account.
